Day 2: Make A Routine, Then Break It
Let’s Talk About…
Some things about this song…
If you didn’t already know this about me, I am big on routines. I attribute most (if not all) of what I do to being able to maintain a series of habits and routines. At the same time, I’ve learned a change of routine, scenery, etc. can be really helpful to bring a new element to what’s an established process.
This song is an example of that and I feel it when I listen back. I brought my Rev2 and a guitar to an airbnb for a weekend and made this one afternoon. It’s got a really laid-back and hypnotic vibe that feels very downtempo/electronic-like (thanks to the Rev2). At the same time, the guitar really gives it a sense of just being some sort of slow blues groove.
This beat doesn’t exist if I hadn’t left my home that weekend, so just a reminder to allow yourself a break and a change of scenery sometimes. Especially if you feel like you’re in a rut. New inputs and settings can offer value.
